Write org docs and Comm-Link announcements
Write your org's SOPs and docs in its knowledge base, and post Comm-Link announcements that notify your members.
Updated 2026-10-26
Your org's knowledge base holds the docs your members keep coming back to: SOPs, ship loadouts, rules, onboarding. Comm-Link is where you post announcements. Both are in Operations › Comms, and both use the same editor: click + Article, write, and click Create.
Every member can read and write articles by default. Organising categories and editing other people's articles needs Manage Knowledge Base (Owner and Admin).
Write an article
- On your community page, click Operations, then Comms › Knowledge Base.
- Click + Article.
- Enter a Title and pick a Category, or leave it on None.
- Write the Body. The toolbar has bold, italic, headings, bullet and numbered lists, quotes, code blocks, links and images.
- Add Tags, separated by commas, if you like.
- Click Create.
The article is live for your members straight away. To change it later, select it and click Edit Article.
Post an announcement on Comm-Link
- Open Comms › Comm-Link.
- Click + Article, write the announcement, and click Create.
When someone with Manage Knowledge Base posts on Comm-Link, every other member of your org gets a notification with the title and the start of the post, in the site and, depending on their settings, by push and email. Posts by other members appear on Comm-Link without a notification. Editing a post later doesn't notify anyone again.
Members who don't want these notifications turn off Community Announcements: see Manage your notifications.
Advanced
- Organise with categories. Click + Category, enter a Category Name and a Group, and click Create. Categories with the same group are listed together in the sidebar, like "Doctrine" › "Combat Protocols". Comm-Link and the knowledge base share the same categories.
- Link articles together. In the editor, click Insert KB article link (the page icon), search for an article and pick it. It's inserted as Article title, which links to the matching article.
- Share a link to an article. Selecting an article puts it in the page address, so you can copy the URL and send it to your members.
- Filter by tag. Click a tag under an article to list only the articles with that tag. Click Clear to see them all again.
- Who can edit what. Write Articles lets a member create articles and edit their own. Manage Knowledge Base adds editing and deleting anyone's article, and creating categories. Take Write Articles off Member if only officers should write docs: see Roles and permissions.
- Use articles in training. A training requirement can link a knowledge base article, so a new member reads your SOP before they rank up: see Training and ranks.
- Add images. In the editor, click Insert image (the picture icon), paste the image's address and describe it in a few words. The image must already be online at an https:// address, like a screenshot on Imgur or your org's website: SC Orgs doesn't host image uploads. You can also write description in the body.
- Deleting. In Edit Article, click Delete, then Delete again to confirm. A deleted article can't be restored.
