Dispatch: ask for help and answer calls
Send a dispatch call when you need help in the 'verse, and claim, start and complete your org's calls. Includes templates and priorities.
Updated 2026-10-26
Dispatch is your org's help line. A member who needs help, like a rescue, an escort or a ship stuck at a station, sends a dispatch call. Your members get notified, one of them claims it (or leadership assigns it), and they mark it done when it's handled. It's on Operations › Logistics › Dispatch.
By default every member can send calls and answer them.
Ask for help
- On your community page, click Operations, then Logistics › Dispatch.
- Click + New Dispatch.
- Enter a Title that says what you need, like "Medical: downed at Yela belt".
- Add a Description and a Location if they help.
- Pick a Priority: Critical, High, Normal or Low.
- Click Send Dispatch.
Your org's members get a notification in SC Orgs (the bell at the top), and the call shows on the Active tab.
Answer a call
- Open the Active tab and pick a call.
- Click Claim. The call is now yours, and it shows as claimed by you.
- Click Start when you're on your way.
- Click Complete when it's handled.
Changed your mind? Click Release to hand the call back. My Dispatches lists the calls you sent, claimed or were assigned. Finished calls go to History.
Assign a call to a member
Members with Manage Dispatch (Owner and Admin) can give a call to a specific member instead of waiting for someone to claim it.
- Open the call on the Active tab.
- Click Assign (or Reassign to change who has it).
- Pick the Member and click Assign.
The member gets a notification and the call appears in their My Dispatches. Only they, or someone with Manage Dispatch, can Start and Complete it. You can also assign a call when you send it: pick a member in Assign to (optional) on + New Dispatch. Only current members of your org can be assigned.
Advanced
- Templates. On the Templates tab, click + Template to save call types your org gets often, with a Name, a Category and a Default Priority. Members then pick a Template when they send a call. On first use, Set Up Dispatch offers ready-made sets for medical, military, community and trading orgs.
- Claimable or Assigned templates. A template's Claim Mode is Claimable (anyone can take it) or Assigned (leadership assigns). Calls from an Assigned template can't be claimed: they wait on the Active tab until someone with Manage Dispatch assigns them.
- Choose which calls notify you. Click My Alerts to turn new-call notifications off, keep only some priorities (say, Critical and High), or hear only about some templates. These settings are yours and only apply to this org. Calls assigned to you always notify you.
- Cancel a call. Cancel closes a call that's no longer needed. It needs the Manage Dispatch permission (Owner and Admin).
- Calls on the map. Calls with a known location show on the dispatch map, coloured by priority. Open calls also show on Logistics › Starmap.
- Who can do what. Dispatch has four permissions: View Dispatch, Request Help, Respond to Dispatch and Manage Dispatch. Members have the first three. To let only a medical or security team claim calls, take Respond to Dispatch off Member and give it to a team role: see Roles and permissions.
